When we Write Around the Table, we’ll come together, tell the truth and be heard.

What Can I expect?

I will read a poem or piece of prose for inspiration and give us a jumping off line.  We’ll write as quickly as we can with pens on paper for 12-15 minutes.  We’ll read our work out loud and receive gratitude not critique.

What will I learn?

You are going to learn to write past the inner critic, and get to the truth of the stories that want to be told.

You will learn to say yes to the first word that comes to mind.

You’ll be amazed at how much can be done in a short amount of time

You will experience how being listened to by others can strengthen your own voice.

Do I need to be a writer?

Will it make me a better writer?

No previous experience with writing necessary.

A desire to be in a supportive setting and experience the value of writing stories with others is all you need and also a good pen and notebook.

This is a writing practice, with the emphasis on practice.  We’ll write quickly, trying to get as many words on the page to tell the whole story.  As with every practice, the more you do, the better you become.
